Those fleeing war in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) descended upon a refugee camp outside Goma late last year.

With no way to protect themselves from intense sun and driving rain, you answered by providing 100 tarps!

Tarps were handed out, the Gospel was preached, and hundreds gave their lives to Christ!! We praise the Lord and are moved by their heartfelt response in the midst of chaos.

In an instant, a new church was born and your giving purchased 100 Bibles too.

Democratic Republic of Congo refugees listen as one reads from his new Bible.Others listen closely as a refugee reads from his new Bible.

Listen to the joy our brothers and sisters had in the midst of horrific attacks. (Full names are not given for security reasons.)

“When my village was attached by malicious people, my house went on fire and I lost everything, even my Bible. I’m so happy to get a new one again.”
— Matima

Lukonge is one life changed forever with your help. He told our team,

Thank you so much for this precious gift. Since you started to preach the Good News in the camp, I gave my life to God and He changed my life. I became a new person. Today I have my Bible. I believe I will become and evangelist.”
— Lukonge

What Do Tarps and Bibles Have in Common?

They bring shelter for the body and soul. They bring the Good News of Jesus Christ. They bring hope.

They remind these war-weary refugees that God cares for them and they are not alone.

Furah was full of joy speaking with Pastor Kana.

“This is my first time to have a Bible. Thank you so much for this gift. I know through this, God will make peace and bring peace to my country so that we can return to our villages and share it with other people.”
— Furah

This new church needs a place to gather. The closest church building is a 2.5 mile walk each way. Please pray as we evaluate needs and scout options, for the intended stay of these refugees may lead to permanent residency as the war continues to rage.
