Light in the Midst of Darkness

I’ve seen a lot of heart-wrenching scenes where Global Outreach Foundation works, but this was one of the most devastating.

This is where YOU enter the story.

Last month my husband, Joseph, and I traveled to Thailand to connect with one of GOF’s Missionary couples and follow up on ministry projects in the area because of your support.

In bars and along the beach, thousands of women sell themselves each night. Many of these women have been trafficked from other nations, their passports taken, and are now stranded. For many of them, if they aren’t bought, then they usually don’t get to eat.

A typical scene of the red light district in Thailand.

As we handed out meals along the beach, Ping (not her real name) broke down in tears.

“No one looks at me. You saw me. Tonight I eat.”

Not everyone on the streets is open to receive prayer, but Ping was more than physically hungry. She gratefully received prayer as tears streamed down her face.

Ping welcomes prayer after receiving a meal.

The Thai team will do all they can to connect with Ping again, but it is very hard to follow-up with these women since they often move from place to place. Please pray that Ping would have an encounter with Jesus and surrender her life to Him. He has greater plans for her than what she is living now.

Remember Pria?

This summer we featured Pria. She was reached for Christ by Dirk and Bobbie Currier as they were doing bar ministry. Doing as they often do, they sat with Pria to learn about her, hear her heart and truly talk with her as a loved human being.

In time, Pria gave her life to Christ in a local Thai church and GOF covered her tuition to learn key business skills to run her own business.

During our trip, I checked on Pria. We all attended church together where her mother and sister were water baptized. Who had told them of Jesus? Pria, of course!

There are few people as joy-filled as Pria! She is a shining star in a city of darkness.

Pria reminds me of what our newly launching Vision 2030 is all about…advancing the Gospel in Word and Deed to broken lives and lost souls.

As we enter new nations and territories, our vision to partner with 250 more churches and national ministries by the end of 2030 results in lost souls transformed by the Gospel and dark places changed.

Will you prayerfully consider investing in broken lives and lost souls like Ping and Pria? I can think of no better way to end the year and bring in the new one!
